Job Summary:

• Responsible for the administrative and clinical aspects of the clinical department/ unit(s) to include organizing, developing, directing, and assuring the delivery of cost-effective, quality patient care.
• Ensures that patient care on the unit (s) is performed in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures and International Standard

Responsibilities:

• Directors of Nursing are responsible to manage the organized nursing services.
• Allocate available resources to promote efficient, effective, and compassionate nursing care, provide input into medical director – level decisions and keep staff informed of executive-level activities.
• The Directors of Nursing coordinate activities between defined areas and provide clinical and administrative leadership and expertise.
• Facilitate an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of collegial relationships among nursing personnel and others.
• Serve as a link between nursing personnel and other health care disciplines throughout the organization.
• Directors of Nursing have a major responsibility for the implementation of the vision, mission, plans, and standards of the organization and nursing services within their areas of responsibility.
• The Director of Nursing, in collaboration with nursing personnel and members of other disciplines, engages in the following activities:
o Participates in nursing and organizational policy formulation and decision – making.
o Facilitates participation of staff in nursing and organizational policy formulation and decision – making.
o Accepts organizational accountability for services provided to recipients.
o Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of care.
• Provides guidance for and supervision of personnel accountable to the
• Director of Nursing.
• Coordinates nursing services with the services of other health care disciplines.
• Participates in the recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel.
• Assumes responsibility for staffing and scheduling personnel. Assignments reflect appropriate utilization of personnel.
• Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development for personnel.
• Evaluates performance of personnel
• Participates in planning and monitoring the budget for their defined areas.
• Participates and involves the nursing staff in evaluative research activities.
• Fosters a climate conducive to educational experiences for nursing and others.
• Fosters peer review.

Qualification:

• Bachelor of Nursing with Master’s degree in Nursing/Healthcare
• 15 years progressive nursing experience with 3 years as Nursing Director or in an acting capacity from an accredited hospital.
